Thursday, February 11, 2010 13:14 - The Engine and Tanker were dispatched to Jackson Township, Box 216-1, on the 600 Block of Enders Road for a residential structure fire. The fire was reported to be on the first floor and spreading to the second when Company 20 was dispatched on the first alarm. The Engine responded with 8 and the Tanker with 3. By the time the Engine and Tanker arrived on scene, Command 216 (R. Stoneroad) had ordered an exterior attack. The Engine crew was assigned to the manpower pool and was immediately put to work assisting with exterior suppression activity. An attempt to work at the fire from the entrance to the basement was initiated by a Millersburg and Elizabethville firefighter. Further attempts were made to extinguish the fire from the Side C windows. A combined effort by all crews on scene knocked down most of the visible fire which was extensive. Millersburg crews then assisted with overhaul on the second floor and attic on Side B, which was still safe to operate from.
Prior to release from the scene, the Engine crew helped break down and roll the 5-inch hose that was laid down the lane. The 20 crew then loaded the hose on a skid loader which took the hose to the top of the lane. The Tanker dumped 2 loads of 3100 gallons at the dump site.
