Monday, January 25, 2010 - Upper Dauphin County received a large amount of rain in a storm that crossed the region the past two days. Numerous calls were received by fire companies across the region and the Millersburg Fire Company was among them. Flooded basements, trees and wires down were among the calls of the day. In the late afternoon, however, one of the more dramatic demonstrations of the ill effects of the storm became apparent when a bridge that crosses the Norfolk-Southern rail line collapsed. The Millersburg Fire Company was alerted to the event by a passerby and Chief 201 (Koppenhaver) and Chief 203 (Snyder) responded to the scene and contacted Norfolk-Southern immediately. Crews were in place later in the evening to begin clean up and repair efforts which continued into the next day.
