JOINT TRAINING WITH 21
Thursday, August 26, 2010
-
Weekly training was coordinated with Company 21 (Elizabethville) tonight at their training house across the street from Station 21. Truck 20 and Utility 20 made the trip and joined with Engine 21 and Engine 21-1 working as teams to extinguish a simulated structure fire. This was a good night working together and gave the junior members some good training in the duties they would perform on an actual incident. Senior members worked together to refine their skills during these training evolutions. The truck crew set-up and performed vertical ventilation and assisted with a rescue of a patient from the second floor. Crews switched out and practiced advancing hose lines into the structure and performed search and rescue. We look forward to our next joint training! Thanks to the gang from E-vllle for the evening!

Shortly after midnight, Box 29-4 was struck for a reported working trailer fire on Kip Road in Halifax Township.  The caller reported that the porch was on fire and shortly thereafter called to report that the entire trailer was afire.  Chief 29 (Stout) responded and upon arrival confirmed a working fire and called for a first alarm.  Engine 20 responded with 6 and was the first arriving Engine.  Chief 29 called for two lines to be pulled and to attack the fire on sides Bravo and Delta.  One line was pulled by the Engine crew and one line was pulled by Chief 29-3 (Bisking) and one of the Engine crew.  Ventilation was also provided by the Engine.  A third line was pulled after the trailer was ventilated.  Tanker 20 pulled in behind the Engine and supplied it with a 3" line.  Engine 29-1 laid a 5" line from Engine 20 down to the intersection of Kip Road and South Elmer Avenue where a port-a-pond was set up.  Mutual Aid also arrived from Companies 21 (Elizabethville) and 216 (Fisherville) to aid with the extinguishment and overhaul of the trailer.

TOWER TO MIFFLIN TWP. SILO FIRE
Wednesday, July 28, 2010 16:42
-
Truck 20 was dispatched to Mifflin Township for a Silo Fire this evening.  Initial reports stated that smoke was coming from the silo and upon arrival Chief 26 (Mace) confirmed  that report.  Truck 20 staged behind Engine 26 and sent the manpower to the silo.  Due to wires running nearby, the Tower was unable to go in service.  The fire appeared to be approximately 30-40 feet up the silo in the chute.  After contacting representatives from the Penn State Ag Rescue team, it was decided to flow water up the chute in an attempt to extinguish the fire.  Further investigation showed that only the corner of the door to the silo was burning.
